An adventure on the water!

Combine a fun or sporty day out with a bit of sailing on the water. You can, in the many Deltas! Five boats sail in and around greater Moerdijk. Are you going for an expedition over the river Haringvliet in the direction of Tiengemeten, or do you prefer to cycle the ferry round trip from the village of Moerdijk to Strijensas, Numansdorp and Willemstad? The choice is yours!

Ferry Waterpoort – CURRENTLY NOT SAILING DUE TO COVID-19

Ferry ‘Waterpoort’ takes you from the jetty at Willemstad-Fort Sabina to Ooltgensplaat, Sluishaven, Benedensas and Dinteloord. On the way over the river Volkerak, you can enjoy snacks, drinks and, of course, the beautiful surroundings. At a small fee, you can take your bicycle on board.

Sailing season

The sailing season starts between 25 and 28 May and lasts until October.

  • May – June: Saturday, Sunday and all public holidays.
  • July-August: Wednesdays to Sundays
  • September: Saturday and Sunday

Estimated departure times

In Willemstad-Fort Sabina, you can board the boat at Servicekade-Zuid, near the piers on the south side. From Fort Sabina, this point can be reached via a grass path, follow the signs to and from the fort. In case of bad weather or private reservations, the timetable may vary. Always check the website of Veerpont Waterpoort before departure.

Departure time morning: 10.45 hrs.
Departure time noon: 15.30 hrs

Dinteloord (Sasdijk) is always the starting and final destination of the route.

Ferry Anna

Between Willemstad and Fort Buitensluis, part of the defensive line of Willemstad, the Anna ferry is in service. This former patrol boat from 1957 once belonged to the German Ministry of Waterways and takes you to your destination in about 30 minutes. There is room for twelve people on board, and you can take your bike with you free of charge.

The Anna ferry service will operate in 2019 from 4 May to 29 September.

  • May-June: Saturday and Sunday, 30-31 May, 10 June
  • July-August: Wednesdays to Sundays
  • September: Saturday and Sunday

Estimated departure times

From Willemstad, ‘De Anna’ departs for Numansdorp at the following hours: 11.00 hrs, 13.00 hrs, 15.00 hrs and 17.00 hrs. On busy days, the ferry does not sail according to schedule, there will be continuous service.

Ferry ‘de Lucretia’

From the harbor in the village of Moerdijk, skipper Jan Blokland takes you over the river Haringvliet towards the picturesque Strijensas in the Hoeksche Waard. This sailing route is ideal to discover the beautiful nature of the round-trip ferry tour between Moerdijk-Strijensas-Numansdorp-Willemstad while sailing and cycling. Ferry De Lucretia sails in 2019 from 4 May to 29 September.

Estimated departure times

From the village of Moerdijk, the ferry departs at the village harbor, at the jetty along the path near Den Bels. You can board the ferry several times a day, namely at 11.00, 13.00, 15.00 and 17.00 hrs. When there are a lot of passengers, the frequency increases between the two places. The crossing from Moerdijk to Strijensas takes about 20 minutes, and you can take your bike for free.

Expedition river Haringvliet – CURRENTLY NOT SAILING FROM WILLEMSTAD

Discover the river Haringvliet with the ferries Linquenda II and Heicondias of the Expedition Haringvliet! Go for the ultimate sailing and nature experience and combine your crossing with a day out in Willemstad, Hellevoetsluis or Middelharnis. In Numansdorp, you can further discover the defensive line of Willemstad at Fort Buitensluis, and in Stellendam, you can visit the seal sanctuary ‘A Seal’.

Just a day out in Tiengemeten? For the children, there is a large natural playground and for the toddlers a kiddie island. Want to discover the beaver’s habitat? That is also possible here under the supervision of a forest ranger.

The ferries offer their services for various destinations: Hellevoetsluis, Stellendam, Middelharnis, Willemstad, Numansdorp, Stad aan ‘t Haringvliet, Nieuwendijk and Tiengemeten. On both ferries, you can take your bike with you, but it is also possible to rent a bike at the various destinations.
