Fijnaart

Plan your day

Fijnaart, a very friendly village!

Fijnaart, in dialect also referred to as ‘de Fendert’, lies in the middle of a large-scale sea clay agricultural landscape called Vrouwe Jacobsland. A few creeks are the visible evidence of the floodings in the past. Together, these creeks form the nature reserve Ruigenhil. To the North, you can find nature reserve Buitengorzen and the river Hollands Diep.

Discover the life in town

Fijnaart has different shops and restaurants. The weekly market is every Tuesday morning, located at Voorstraat. Would you rather visit a historical site? Plan a visit to the ancient wheat mill in Oudemolen, stroll along the old streets of the town or visit one of the two churches. Will you be visiting Fijnaart in the last week of August? Prepare for a party and join the locals during the annual festival week.

Things to do

The lay-back attitude of Brabant mixed with Dutch status, that is Willemstad! A short distance from Rotterdam, Breda and Antwerp, to be discovered by boat, on foot or by bike. The gateway to Brabant as an ideal place for a day trip or short break. Moerdijk has surprisingly many faces. Will you come and discover them?

Eat & Sleep

During your visit to Willemstad and its surroundings, you should try the local specialties! The West Brabant region is known for its sweet cherries, mushrooms and fresh fish from the river Hollands Diep. Be sure to taste the locally brewed beers, such as the Willemsch Lente beer and the Jakobus Buijs beer from brewery D’n Luie Hond (The lazy dog) in the fortified town of Klundert. Buy the local products at markets or in one of the many local shops at farmers’ homes. Cheers!
